Romans 12:19 reminds us, “Never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”
Human nature craves payback. When we are hurt, disrespected, or wronged, our first instinct is often to strike back — to “even the score.” But God calls us to a higher path. By taking vengeance into our own hands, we step into territory that belongs to God alone. Trusting God with justice frees us from bitterness and keeps our hearts aligned with His will. God sees, God knows, and God will act in His time and His way. So let go, and let God handle the retribution.
Join us for Sunday worship at Greater Bethel in Athens. Our service begins at 9:45 AM. with church school and breakfast at 140 Rose Street, followed by the main service at 11:00 AM. My message from Romans 12:19 is titled 'Leave the Retribution to God.' Until then, blessings, peace, and love.

The Bible instructs us to pause before responding to an offense. We pause when we feel offended and ask two critical questions: “Where is this anger coming from?” and “What would it be like to be the other person?” Think of a recent time when you reacted in anger because of an offense. How might this approach have changed the outcome?

One of the objections people often raise about starting their day with a quiet time before God is that they are too busy and have numerous tasks to attend to.
“Glitter or Godliness? Living Faithfully in a New Gilded Age"
Amos warned Israel about being dazzled by wealth while ignoring justice… and wow, doesn’t that sound like today? From tech billionaires to luxury living, glitter can blind us. But God is calling us higher. 🙌
Here are the takeaways:
👉 Don’t be fooled by glitter—choose godliness.
👉 Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters.
👉 Walk the path God calls us to: give generously, pursue justice, and set your mind on eternal things.
At the end of the day, glitter fades—but God’s love and justice remain forever. 💜
